Job Description

Role 4: CPE Designer Location : Ipswich - London - Belfast Type: Contract Job Description: The role holder will be responsible for technical development on projects within the Home Hub development team; this includes technical management and liason with vendors, testers and development teams. Technical diagnostics of reported errors and issues including root cause analysis, internal stakeholder management and liaising with suppliers, co-ordinating planned fixes with delivery managers for roll out of new firmware. The role holder will be responsible for providing development support to the business on behalf of the Home Hub programme within BT. The role holder will work closely with the assigned delivery manager and technical project team, taking ownership of issues and tasks relating to the project area and providing technical sign off for firmware and hardware developments in the Hub space. Key Skills Experience of development and testing of embedded CPE hardware and software, preferably within the home gateway space. Deep working knowledge of Home Gateway standards including, but not restricted to: IPv4/IPv6, PPP, IPoE, Wifi, UPnP / Multicast, EoGRE, TR069, TR181. Desirable to have testing experience in areas including, but not restricted to: IPv4/IPv6, PPP, IPoE, Wifi, UPnP / Multicast, EoGRE, TR069, TR181. Technical understanding of the UK broadband network and associated standards, particularly G.Fast and VDSL. Proven vendor management and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience of Linux operating systems and scripting experience of Linux including use of ash/shell, debugging tools such as gdb, version control, bug tracking, UML. Deep working knowledge of Test Automation and Test Management practives Proven vendor and stakeholder management skills with excellent communication skills.
